Ayobami Ojebode

Ayobami Ojebode holds a PhD in Development Communication from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He teaches development communication with special focus on the media and political, cultural and social development. In 2007, Dr Ojebode was a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Centre for Research on Inequality, Human Security and Ethnicity (CRISE) where he studied media coverage of minority ethnic groups in Nigeria. In 2008, he was Visiting Researcher at the College of Communications, the Pennsylvania State University, US. There he collaborated with Professor Anthony Olorunnisola on an assessment of the performance of the Nigerian mass media eight years into democracy. Here at ASC, Leiden, he will be completing his work on the former guerrilla pressmen and the position of their movement ten years into Nigerian democracy. The tentative title of his work at Leiden is "Yesterday's guerrilla press in today's democratic neoliberal Nigeria: cross-over, compromise or confrontation?"
