Francis Nyamnjoh

Dr Francis Nyamnjoh is a sociologist and specialist in mass communication studies. He used to head the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Buea in Cameroon. In October 1999, however, he moved to Botswana where he became a senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Botswana in Gabarone. At the ASC he worked closely with Dr Piet Konings on a joint project on 'Political Change and Regionalism in Cameroon'. In addition, he pursued his research on 'Press Cartoons and Politics in Cameroon', a topic on which he gave seminars at the University of Oxford and at the ASC. By the time he left the ASC, he had completed a manuscript on 'Media and Democratisation in Africa', published three papers and written a number of book reviews.
