Students interview African academics in the Netherlands: What is the role of the diaspora?

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the 2021-2022 students of the LDE minor African Dynamics were compelled to complete their three-week field study in the Netherlands. To make it possible for them to still gain (some) first-hand experience of working and conducting research on Africa, they researched the diaspora’s role in EU, AU and Dutch development policies. Based on their insights, they explored how these frameworks play out in reality - by conducting interviews with African academics working at Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University. In the interviews they focus on these academics' role in strengthening knowledge transfer and capacity building in their home country or the African continent.
