INCLUDE

INCLUDE is an independent think-and-do-tank working to make knowledge count for inclusive development in Africa.

Combining rigorous research with knowledge brokering to bridge the gap between evidence and action. INCLUDE's overall goal is to produce knowledge, share it widely, and help others use it to build more inclusive policies and programmes.

Through three pillars - Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Policy Dialogues - INCLUDE works to:

  • Produce knowledge grounded in evidence and lived experience.

  • Broker connections between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

  • Facilitate policy uptake that leads to more equitable and inclusive outcomes.

This integrated approach ensures that knowledge doesn’t stay on paper - it informs action and drives change.

Since 2012, INCLUDE has been funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served as a trusted link between research, policy, and practice, helping decision-makers turn insights into progress.

INCLUDE's Secretariat is run by the African Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL), and the African Economic Research Centre (AERC) in Nairobi.
