PhD candidate Tycho van der Hoog was interviewed on Radio 1 about the special ties between North Korea and Southern Africa. African countries still pay North Korea, says historian Tycho van der Hoog. He came across a Stalinist monument in Namibia; a North Korean monument he was told. That moment marked the beginning of his research into the friendship between North Korea and Southern Africa.
