Over the past five years, livelihoods analysis has become a widely accepted research approach, offering a poverty-focused, multi-disciplinary perspective. It has gained ground relative to orthodox social science approaches, shedding light on the complex labour patterns currently unfolding in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia. The speakers have been engaged in recent livelihoods research. They will be discussing their findings and the methodological advantages and drawbacks of the livelihoods approach.
