On the occasion of International Women's Day, Lidewyde Berckmoes was interviewed by De Kanttekening about Sudanese women. In order to provide effective external assistance, it is important to understand how people in Sudan deal with trauma (also in times of peace). Which traditions and rituals provide support? And how can these be utilised now, during this war? Psychosocial support must be developed in collaboration with women and their communities.
