Victor Selorme Gedzi

Dr. Victor Selorme Gedzi is a Ghanaian, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. He holds a diploma in Theology from the University of Ghana, a certificate in research from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, a BA in Religion from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, am MA/Licentiate in Intercultural Theology from the Radboud University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands and a PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is a Nuffic Fellow. His research interest: religion, environment, law and development.

He teaches the following undergraduate courses:

African Traditional Religion and Development, Christianity and Development, Culture and Development and Research Methods. At the graduate level, he teaches: African Pentecostalism/Charismaticism, Religion, Culture and Development, Studies in Modern African Instituted Churches, African Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Development, Research Methodology.

Gedzi was the immediate past Head of the Department of Religious Studies, KNUST. He was a Board member of Faculty of Social Sciences and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He is a member of Faculty of Social Sciences Committee on Restructuring of Courses.

He was also Chairman of the following university committees: The Faculty of Social Sciences Research/Publications Committee; Department of Religious Studies Accreditation Committee, Department of Religious Studies Guidance and Counselling Committee, Department of Religious Studies Internship Committee, and the One Year Master of Arts Religious Studies Program Committee.

He was a member of the Faculty of Social Sciences Transport Committee, Faculty of Social Sciences Restructuring Committee, the Department of Religious Studies Graduate Studies Committee, the Department of Religious Studies Fund-Raising Committee, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Research Council, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Internship Committee.

He is an academic Tutor to BA History and Political Studies students and Second Year parallel students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. He is a reviewer for the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal, and the Journal of Legal Pluralism and Unofficial Law.

Internationally, Victor Selorme Gedzi is a Cambridge Editorial Advisory Board Member. He is a Nuffic Fellow. He is a member of the African Association for the Study of Religions; a member of the European Centre for Research Training and Development; a member of the International Association for Feminist Economics; a member of the Association for Women’s Rights in Development; and the West African Association of Theological Institutions.
