Tayo Agunbiade

Omotayo Agunbiade is a social historian and independent scholar/ researcher (unaffiliated) with a 30-year + background in journalism. She has a BA in history from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and a BSc in New Technology and Women Development Studies from the University of East London. Her research interests are women’s history in West Africa, legislative institutions, politics and governance with a special focus on gender analysis and mainstreaming. She specialises in writing women’s history and has published articles on Premium Times Nigeria and Al Jazeera. She regularly posts information about women’s history on X (Twitter).

Tayo is the author of the forthcoming history book ‘Untold Histories of Nigerian Women: Emerging from the Margins.’ She is currently working on her second volume of history which is a trans-national project based on her archival research of an aspect of women’s accomplishments in British West Africa during the colonial era. She is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a member of the Women’s History Network (WHN). She is the editor of WHN’s monthly newsletter.
