Isma'il Hashim Abubakar

Isma'il Hashim Abubakar obtained his doctoral degree from Mohammed V University, Rabat in 2023, specializing in Contemporary Islamic Thought while he obtained both his B.A and M.A degrees in Islamic Studies (2014 and 2019 respectively) as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Translation (2017) all from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. As a certified translator by the Nigerian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (NITI), he has rendered several works and titles into Hausa, English and Arabic for both local and international clients, including Advancing Education and Research Center (AERC), Rabat, Institute of Philosophical Studies Europe (IPSE), Brussels, International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), among others. He also has skills in reviewing, proofreading and editing of works within Humanities and Social Sciences. Ismail is currently an academic staff in the Department of Islamic Studies of Federal University, Gusau Nigeria. Before joining the Nigeria Office of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), Kano in 2016, Ismail had worked in various places, including teaching at primary and secondary schools as well as serving as a casual staff at Pyramid Radio where he worked as sub-editor, newscaster and presenter of programs in Hausa, Arabic and English for almost a decade. His academic articles have appeared in reputable journals both within and outside Nigeria, while he occasionally contributes with articles for The Daily Reality newspaper. Ismail has attended dozens of national and international conferences, seminars and workshops within and outside the country. He is currently working to publish a magnum opus on the biography, career, ideas and thoughts of the late Shaykh Ja’far Mahmud Adam.
