Femke van Zeijl

As the first Dutch speaking journalist in Nigeria, Femke van Zeijl moved to Lagos in 2012. From there she reports for Dutch NRC Handelsblad and VPRO Radio’s Bureau Buitenland. She alsoI writes feature articles for anglophone media such as The New York Times and Al Jazeera and she works as researcher and producer for television. Her main focus is on Nigeria, but she has also been reporting from Africa south of the Sahara since 2002. Femke van Zeijl is the author of three books and she is currently working on a fourth: The Do-it-Yourself Society. As a freelancer she decides on her own agenda, trying to tell stories otherwise forgotten. In this way she hopes to paint a more balanced picture of this universe of a country.
