Daniel Oshi

Prof. Daniel Oshi holds MA and PhD in Development Studies (International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University, Netherlands), MPH (University of Hertfordshire, UK), and MBBS (University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria). He is a medical doctor, global health and international development expert, researcher, and currently a Professor of Public Health Practice at The University of the West Indies, Mona, Kingston, Jamaica. Previously, among other employment positions, Daniel taught in Nigerian universities and served as a Medical Adviser with the German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association. He has research interests in international development, global health, social epidemiology, and medical anthropology, and more specifically, social determinants of health, chronic communicable and non-communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, substance use, and health behaviour, with gender and poverty as cross-cutting issues. He is currently expanding his research interests to include digital health innovations, climate change and adaptation. His geographical areas of research interest are West Africa, Caribbean and Latin America.
