Anne Kamau

Anne Wairimu Kamau is a social science researcher, based at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi, Kenya. She is the Deputy Director of African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), Center of Excellence for Non-communicable Diseases, hosted by the University of Nairobi. Her background is in Social Work and Sociology with specialisation in health and development, focusing on socio-cultural dimensions, adolescent health and sexuality, malaria prevention and control, and health care system aspects. She also conducts research on transport and development; children travel and safety, social protection among informal economy workers, and gender issues. She teaches post-graduate courses in Social Policy and Development, Transport and Development, and Population, Health and Development.
