Akwasi Boateng

Dr Akwasi Bosompem Boateng is a cultural, communication and media scholar. He is a Lecturer at the School of Communication and Media Studies, University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. He did his postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Communication Studies, North-West University, South Africa before joining the University of Education, Winneba. Dr Boateng received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cultural and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He also holds a post graduate diploma in International Studies from Rhodes University. Akwasi had his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Administration, a post graduate diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and a Master of Arts (MA) degree from the University of Education, Winneba. He has received awards and grants from various institutions for research and conferences. Dr Boateng publishes and reviews articles in journals and books. He is a member of several academic and professional bodies including the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA), the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA), Nigeria, the Collaborative Research Group African History of the ASCL, the Africa Network of Researchers on Inequality in Science (ANRIS), the Communication Educators Association of Ghana (CEAG) and the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). He has consulted and taught courses in communication and media studies in universities in South Africa and Ghana.
