Afam Ituma

Afam Ituma is a Professor of Human Resource Management and the Dean of Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) Nigeria.  He received his BSc in Mass Communication from ESUT (Nigeria), MBA from the University of Leicester (UK) and PhD in Management Studies from Brunel University (UK). He has been a Visiting Research Fellow at Kingston Business School (UK), the University of Leiden (Netherlands), the University of London (UK) and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Lisbon (Portugal). His current research which is oriented around international management has two key strands. The first strand is characterised by a strong emphasis on the influence of societal institutions in shaping career dynamics and entrepreneurship development. The second strand concerns the career benefits of the MBA in different national contexts. He has published widely cited research on a broad range of people management and entrepreneurship issues in developing economies, in a number of top-tier journals.

Professor Ituma has held several senior management positions at AE-FUNAI,  including as    Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Employability, Director of Academic Planning, Director of Internationalisation and interim  Dean of Faculty of Education.  Prior to joining AE-FUNAI, he held a number of academic positions in the UK, including Lecturer at Brunel University, Academic Consultant at Mountbatten Institute, Visiting Research Fellow at Kingston Business School and Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University. He regularly presents his work nationally and internationally and has been a guest speaker at many African and European universities. He also consults to organisations in areas of corporate strategy Development, leadership, human resource management and organisational performance. He is a member of the Editorial Board of  Mangement and Organisation Review and African Journal of Mangement and Social Sciences and a Fellow of UK Higher Education Academey.
