Adeniyi Semiu Basiru

Adeniyi Semiu Basiru (PhD) is an independent researcher, consultant and policy analyst. He obtained his first degree in Political Science from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria and his second and third degrees in the same discipline from the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. He has had teaching experiences in various universities in Benin and Nigeria, spanning a period of sixteen years. His research interests cover international economic relations; foreign policy analysis; conflict and peace studies; African politics; governance and security studies. He has contributed chapters to several books and attended local and international conferences, where he presented academic papers.

Since 2013, he has had the privilege of reviewing articles for notable international journals including: African Journal of Democracy and Governance, African Security Review, Africa Review, Democracy and Security, Politea among others. Dr Basiru, a member of the Nigerian Society of International Affairs, has published widely in local and international journals. His articles have appeared in Africa Insight, Africa Review, Inkanyiso, Ibadan Journal of Sociology, Unilag Journal of Politics, Contemporary Journal of African Studies, Taiwan Journal of Democracy, Ufahamu, Journal of International Studies, Democracy and Security, Africanus, African Journal on Conflict Resolution, International Social Science Review, The African Review, Journal of Asian and African Studies among others. With Solomon Oladele Akinboye in 2014, he co-authored, “Foreign Policy Analysis: Conceptual and Theoretical Logic” (Texas/Lagos: Wit Publishing Limited, ISBN: 978-0-9844840-2-7).
