Abstract

Dr. Michael Eze is Assistant Professor at Leiden University teaching African and Comparative Philosophy in the Global and Comparative Philosophy Programme. Liesbeth Kanis is a BA China Studies and LDE African Dynamics Minor graduate, with a keen interest in Africa-China Relations and knowledge production for development. This podcast discusses diversity and inclusion in academia and the specific role that African diaspora (can) play in knowledge creation and knowledge transfer. It covers racism as an everyday reality and includes epistemic confessions on the challenge of extending compassion and empathy to the ‘other’ as captured in Ubuntu philosophy.
