Abstract

This catalogue describes the principal items of the material culture of the Me'en or 'Tishana', an ethnic group or nationality living in Ethiopia, in the Southwestern Käfa Region. The first part discusses some general characteristics of Me'en habitat and sociocultural organization, in order to give an idea of life in a shifting cultivator/hunter-gatherer culture in a rather pecarious natural environment. The second part of the catalogue describes Me'en material objects, illustrated with photographs. Almost all of the artefacts are in the possession of the Ethnological Museum of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies in Addis Ababa. A final section lists other known Me'en material objects which are not in the Museums collection
