CRG Seminar: lecture and documentary screening on mining in the DRC and Ghana

On Wednesday 22 March the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology organises a lecture and documentary screening on (gold) mining in the Congolese Copperbelt and Ghana.

This event is organised by the Sustainability Cluster of the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Developent Sociology of Leiden University in collaboration with the CRG 'Rethinking African History'.

Programme:

14.00- 15.15 Lecture by Jeroen Cuvelier (Ghent University): The politics of time in the Congolese Copperbelt, plus discussion.

15.15 – 15.30 Break

15.30 – 16.45 Sabine Luning (Leiden University): Introduction to the book and documentaries plus viewing of the documentaries Gold Matters in Tarkwa (Ghana) - Taking Small-Scale Mining to the Next Level and Gold Matters in Kejetia (Gbane, Ghana) - Future Makers.

16.45 Drinks at the CADS common room (3rd floor).
