Harry Wels

Harry Wels (1961) Associate Professor, trained as an anthropologist and working at the Department of Organisational Sciences of VU University Amsterdam and the African Studies Centre (ASC) in Leiden. His research focuses mainly on structures of organisational cooperation in nature conservation in South and southern Africa. His publications include ‘Private wildlife conservation in Zimbabwe. Joint ventures and reciprocity’ (2003, Brill, Leiden), together with Marja Spierenberg ‘Conservative philanthropists, royalty and business elites in nature conservation in southern Africa’ (Antipode 2010) and together with Maano Ramutsindela and Marja Spierenburg 'Sponsoring Nature. Environmental philanthropy for conservation' (Earthscan) . He is series editor of the SAVUSA-ASC Book Series with Brill.
