Migratie vanuit Afrika 2015-2019: wen er (nog steeds) maar aan

Ton Dietz

Ton Dietz wrote an article for Geografie magazine about migration from Africa having increased simultaneously with an increase in development as measured by the Human Development Index (and instead of having decreased, which is often believed). In an earlier article from 2018, Ton Dietz and Hein de Haas already drew this conclusion. In the new article, this conclusion is reconfimed. The sad news, Ton Dietz writes, is that, as of 2020, a decrease in development will probably become visible as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
