Pius M. Mosima

Pius M. Mosima hails from Buea in the South West Region of Cameroon. He teaches Philosophy at the Higher Teachers’ Training College, University of Bamenda; and is vice Country Director in charge of Research and Programs at the Benchmark Institute for Research and Development (BIRD) Yaoundé, Cameroon; and Executive Board Member of the African Centre for Research, Innovation and Development(ACRID) Limbe/Buea; Cameroon. He is also Assistant Chief Examiner for Philosophy at the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board (CGCEB). He studied Philosophy at the University of Yaoundé I where he obtained the BA and MA degrees in Philosophy; and the Ecole Normale Superieure of the same institution where he obtained the Postgraduate Teachers’ Diploma (DI.PES.II) in Philosophy. He also studied Political Science at the University of Yaoundé II- Soa, where he obtained the MA and DEA degrees in Political Science. He later proceeded to study Philosophy at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands) under the supervision of Professor Wim van Binsbergen. However, when Professor Wim van Binsbergen retired from that Chair in 2012, Mosima finally defended his thesis at Tilburg University (The Netherlands), where his co-supervisor, Professor Walter van Beek still had PhD conferment rights. His research interests include African /intercultural Philosophy; Globalization and Culture, Moral and Political Philosophy, Political Sociology and Anthropology, Citizenship and Development Studies, Gender Studies and Bioethics. He has supervised research, presented papers in many conferences, facilitated in many workshops and given guest lectures in Summer Universities on these topics in many African and European universities.
