Inge Ruigrok

A political scientist, Inge Ruigrok (1970) is Associate Researcher at Centro de Investigação & Desenvolvimento sobre Direito e Sociedade (CEDIS), Faculty of Law,  Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal, working on a Postdoc research funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). Her main research interests include dynamics of political change, post-conflict politics, and the socio-political dimension of governance.
She was awarded an individual WOTRO Science for Development Fellowship in 2004 for a doctoral research project that analyzed the process of negotiating governance in Angola: the reconstruction of local polities and political life as an integral and interdependent part of the process of reconstituting the state in a post-war environment. The project also received support from the Wenner Gren Foundation for field work in Angola. While member of the Research School for Resource Studies for Development (CERES), Inge Ruigrok defended her Ph.D. dissertation at the VU University in Amsterdam in January 2011. 
Besides her academic work, Inge Ruigrok worked as a journalist in Southern Africa in the late 1990s, acted as manager of various communication-related projects, and worked as a consultant specialised in governance and communication in short-term assignments for the European Commission, UNDP Angola, Netherlands Institute for Southern Africa, and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
