Expertise on topics regarding gender, HIV/AIDS, religion, and politics.
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Professor Felix U. Kaputu worked for the last seven years in different academic institutions in the United States of America, Japan and in Belgium. He has offered his expertise in African Studies, African Politics, Literature (Mythology), Gender, Religion, Diaspora, Art, Community Development and Pedagogy. His main axes of expertise have grown within comparative structures that put African experiences and studies, on the one hand, and respectively other continents especially Asian, European and American, on the other, for global comparative presentations and understanding of socio-political, religious, literary and artistic productions.
In this capacity after a PhD in comparative Literature at the Université de Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he reinforced his training with continuing education as a US Fulbright Scholar in Religion and Pluralism at the University of California Santa Barbara (2003). With a Japanese Government Scholarship, he studied Gender and Religion at Nanzan University (2005), and reinforced his teaching capacities at Belgian universities (2001, 2004).
He worked successively at the Université de Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic (1988-2006), the W.E. b. Dubois Institute at Harvard University (2006-2007), Purchase College (State University of New York (2007-2008), the International Center for Japanese Studies at Nichibunken in Kyoto (2008-2009), the International Christian University of Tokyo (2009), Massachusetts College of Art and Design (2009-2013). He continues teaching different modules on African development, conflict resolutions, gender studies at Helsinki-España (2010-), and is currently Ghent University, Belgium (2013 - ).
Professor Kaputu currently works on his research 'Zambian Cooperbelt Mining Boom New Frontiers’ Background: Solwezi Women, HIV-AIDS, and Faith 2000-2013'.
