Solani Ngobeni

I am currently the director of publications a the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA) where I am responsible for publishing scholarly books, monographs, conference proceedings, occasional papers as well as a peer- reviewed and Department of Higher Education and Training accredited journal Africa Insight.

I am also responsible for publishing corporate publications such as our Annual Report which is then presented in parliament annually in September.

I am also a Research Associate in the Department of Languages and Literatures in the Faculty of Arts at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University where I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the Department of Political Science. I hold a masters degree in publishing from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. I started my research and publishing career at the Institute for Global Dialogue, Johannesburg in 1999 before joining Juta Academic Publishers/University of Cape Town Press as a Higher Education Publisher in 2000.

In 2004 I was appointed as a Managing Director of Juta Learning - a Juta company. In 2007 I was announced as South Africa's International Young Publisher of the Year under the auspices of the British Council.

I am a published researcher and have presented papers at both local and international conferences. I am also a regular participant at local and international book fairs such as London, Cape Town, Nigeria, Nairobi, amongst others.
