Sandile Ngidi

Sandile Ngidi is a South African journalist, poet, literary critic and playwright and brand communication specialist. Sandile writes in his mother tongue Zulu, and in English. In 2006 he translated the classic Zulu novel by Sibusiso Nyembezi, Inkinsela yaseMgungundlovu (The Rich Man of Pietermaritzburg) into English. The novel is being republished in 2019 to mark Nyembezi’s 100th birthday anniversary.  Sandile Ngidi was previously the literary agent for the renowned South African critic and writer Lewis Nkosi. In the past he has edited Realtime youth magazine and Baobab literary journal. In 2018 he will publish his debut English poetry collection, Friends of the Tender Board. His main intellectual interests include post-apartheid political rhetoric, literary translation, literary representation, postcolonial studies and decolonial aesthesis. In 2019 Sandile Ngidi will launch the Zulu translation of Lewis Nkosi's novel Mating Birds.
