Rachel Keeton

Originally an architect by training, Rachel Keeton has worked as an urban researcher and project manager at the International New Town Institute since 2009. Her book, “Rising in the East: Contemporary New Towns in Asia” (SUN, 2011) set out to make the complex urbanization processes at work more visible and comprehensible for a wider audience. She has experience conducting research across Asian and Africa, organizing international conferences, presenting her research to diverse groups, managing professional and student exchanges as well as teaching at the masters level. Her current work is mainly focused on urban issues in Nairobi, Kenya and the new satellite cities planned around the capital.
