Peer Schouten

Peer Schouten is currently finishing his PhD at the School of Global Studies/University of Gothenburg. His PhD is about the role of private security companies in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a particular focus on the interrelationships between private security on the one hand and foreign mining and humanitarian organizations on the other. Besides his PhD, Peer publishes on theoretical topics regarding the nature of power and security in International Relations. Peer also frequently consults NGO’s on topics related to security governance, transnational corporations, and mineral resource extraction in Sub-Sahara Africa, with a particular focus on the Great Lakes Region. Peer is affiliated to the National University of Rwanda as lecturer, and is editor-in-chief of Theory Talks.
