Mogamat Anwa Adriaanse

I hold a B.BIBL degree from the University of South Africa. I am currently busy with an MLIS degree [Masters in Library and Information Science] at the University of the Western Cape. My thesis is entitled ‘The responsiveness of collection development to community needs in the City of Cape Town Library and Information Service’. My research interests include all aspects of collection development inter alia: user community needs, information seeking behavior; the evolvement of collections, the development of collection development policies and plans, and the management of electronic collections.

The bulk of my career [> 20 years] has been spent in public libraries followed by a recent [2014] moved to an academic library. My present role as the Assistant Director: Collection Development, Management and Access sees me managing the Acquisitions and Cataloguing sections at UWC library, as well as Circulation Services.
