Mijasoa Andriamarovololona

Mija is a PhD researcher at the VU University Amsterdam, in the NWO-WOTRO funded research programme ‘Development as a Trojan Horse? Large-Scale Land Acquisitions in Africa’. Her PhD research focuses on the implementation processes of REDD+ and subsequent bio-physical and socio-cultural changes in the south eastern rainforest of Madagascar. More generally, she is interested in complex socio-ecological systems, rural development and empowerment. With a background on agronomic sciences (Madagascar), environmental forestry (UK) and social sciences (NL), she approaches her (action) researches from a multidisciplinary perspective and enjoy crossing boundaries- economic, geographical, disciplinary etc.
