Leang Un

Leang UnLeang UN is a director of graduate program in education and senior lecturer at Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His teaching focuses on philosophy of education, educational policy and methods in educational research. He graduated from Royal University of Phnom Penh and received his M.A. in philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University and Ph.D. in social and behavarious science from University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His dissertation focuses on comparing the role of education in economic development in Cambodia and Uganda after the end of their civil wars.

Leang UN's main research interest are comparative education and development in developing countries, critical social theory, applied critical thinking skill and moral education. Currently, he has been coordinating to conduct a policy oriented research for Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Cambodia, focusing the relevance of secondary school curriculum to the labour market need and preparation for higher education. He also serves as coordinator of research interest group on social policy on education, at the Cambodian Development Research Forum. He is also consulted by international development agency and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport on various issues related to aid effectiveness and educational planning.
