Jelmer Kamstra

Jelmer Kamstra holds two master degrees from the Radboud University of Nijmegen in the fields of Public Administration and Organisational Science and Development Studies with a specialisation in Conflict Studies. After completing his studies, Jelmer worked three years as a teacher of statistics and research methodology at the Nijmegen School of Management of the Radboud University. In 2005 Jelmer cofounded research agency 101 research (www.101research.nl) and online research facility peilsnel (www.peilsnel.nl). For this agency he has carried out a range of research and training assignments for NGOs, universities, (local) government institutes and businesses.

While continuing to work for 101 research, Jelmer started his PhD on promoting civil society and democracy in developing countries within the IS-academy program. A joint program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Center of International Development Issues Nijmegen (CIDIN). For this research he performed extensive fieldwork in Ghana and Indonesia. In august 2014 Jelmer obtained his PhD degree. Currently he combines research and teaching at CIDIN (Radboud University) and at 101 research. His research interests include the interface between (economic) development and environmental degradation, civil society (especially community based organisations) and evaluation of development programs.
