Getu Demeke Alene

Getu Demeke Alene is a PhD candidate at Wageningen University and Research. His PhD research is entitled  ‘Food Security Policy and Pastoralism in Ethiopia: Governmentality and Ethiopian Somali Pastoralists’ Entanglement with Productive Safety Nets Programme (PSNP)’.

Getu has earned his MPhil degree in Development Studies from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and he has a First Class Honors BEd degree in Geography from Addis Ababa University.

He had worked as an Assistant Lecturer and Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Jigjiga University in Ethiopia.

Getu’s research interests includes governmentality and government interventions, pastoralism and food security policy, food security and rural livelihoods, safety nets/social protection, (self-help) community development, and migration and development.
