Catrien Notermans

Catrien Notermans is an anthropologist and associate professor at the Department of Anthropology and Development Sociology at Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She worked for both the Anthropology Department and the Institute for Gender Studies at Radboud University Nijmegen when doing her PhD research on Christian polygyny in Cameroon (1999) and her post-doctoral research on child fosterage and motherhood in that same country (2001). Her research activities have expanded to Francophone West Africa (Guinea) and to the African diaspora in Europe (Netherlands and France) with a focus on migration, religion and transnational kin networks.
