Carla F. Rodrigues
I am a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies for Sociology (University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal). Currently, I am also a research fellow at the Health and Society Research Group (department of Sociology, University Eduardo Mondlane, Maputo, Mozambique).
My main research area is Sociology of Health, with special focus on lay rationalities in health; therapeutic pluralism; and pharmaceuticals consumption. Alongside with academic research, I have worked as assistant professor and as research consultant in health and development intervention projects in Portuguese Speaking African countries.
For my PhD, I am studying the logics of pharmaceuticalisation and the effects of globalisation on local therapeutic cultures in Maputo, Mozambique. My analytical approach will focus on lay practices and rationalities towards medicines as well as other therapeutic options.
I have been conducting research in Portugal and in Mozambique.
