Benedict Nantang Jua

Benedict Nantang Jua has a B.A in Political Science and an M.A. in History from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a Ph.D in Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Before joining the Faculty at SC State, Jua taught at the University of Buea in Cameroon as well as worked as a researcher at Cameroon’s Institute of Social Sciences. He was a Senior Fulbright Fellow at the School in Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, a Rockefeller Humanities Fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a Copeland fellow at Amherst College and a Visiting Researcher at the African Studies Centre in Leiden, the Netherlands.

He is a member of the African Studies Association(USA), the South Carolina Political Science Association, Ethno-Net Africa and the African Political Science Association.

His research interests are in state construction, democratization and social transformations in Africa.
