Klaas van Walraven is a political scientist who has specialized in international relations of the African continent; African international organizations such as the OAU and ECOWAS; the role of state elites in African politics; external interventions in African conflicts; processes of democratisation; and resistance studies. Currently, he is working on a monograph about the Sawaba rebellion in Niger (1958-1965) and its aftermath.
