Raphael Babatunde

Raphael Olanrewaju Babatunde is a Professor of Development and Agricultural Economics at the University of Ilorin and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Empowerment (CSAE), Ilorin, Nigeria. He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. He has over 20 years of teaching and research for development experience, and his research interests include development economics, poverty and economics of malnutrition, health economics, climate change adaptation and resilience, sustainable food systems and impact evaluation. His research methods involve using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, as well as experimental and non-experimental impact evaluation techniques. He was formerly Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Pavia, Italy, Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), Uppsala, Sweden, African Studies Centre (ASC), Leiden, Netherlands and University of Passau, Germany. His current research is on building resilience to climate shocks and RCT impact analysis of health interventions on productivity in the rice growing regions of Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) and Centre for International Cooperation and Development (CICOPS), Italy. He is a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist and CAADP Technical Expert for the African Union Commission (AUC) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
