Kim de Vries works on the disclosure of the ASC Library’s map collection, a
unique series of maps that cover the entire African continent. She assesses
the possibilities for cataloguing and digitizing the collection. Hopefully
this will lead to a freely available online database that is searchable
through Picarta and other search engines.
Kim also works at WOTRO Science for Global Development, a division within
NWO, The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. Before that she
worked for the Development Policy Review Network (DPRN). Kim studied Human
Geography at the University of Amsterdam and International Development
Studies at the Radboud University Nijmegen. Her scholarly interests are in
the fields of ethnicity, identity politics, territoriality and development,
with a specific emphasis on Africa.
