Manase Chiweshe

Manase Kudzai Chiweshe is a PhD Candidate at Rhodes University in South Africa. He is a Zimbabwean national working on an exciting project around associational life and institutionalisation in communities that emerged from the Fast Track Land Reform Programme in Zimbabwe. Manase Chiweshe has vast experiences in rural development and research work having worked as the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator at Care International Zimbabwe. He holds a BSc and MSc in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently he is an associate at Ruzivo Trust in Harare working around livelihood issues on fast track farms in Mazowe and Mangwe districts. Manase Chiweshe is also a part time lecturer in the Sociology Department at the Women’s University in Africa based in Harare. His research interests include rural organisations, gender issues, sports studies, land and agrarian studies. At the African Studies Centre, Manase Chiweshe aims to finish his doctoral thesis and a working paper on land tenure and conflicts in Zimbabwe.
