Lotje de Vries
Lotje de Vries (1979) has a background in Development Sociology and a PhD from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. At the African Studies Centre, she specializes on South Sudan and coordinates the ASC’s role in the Consortium for Development Partnership in collaboration with CODESRIA in Dakar. Her research concentrates on issues of state-building, borderlands, social dynamics in (post-conflict) societies and the performance of power and authority in everyday practice. She has research experience in West Africa and South Sudan.
Lotje also works as a postdoctoral researcher at CICAM, Radboud University in Nijmegen on the role of international actors in the development of South Sudan.
