The African Studies Centre currently hosts about 15-20 resident PhD students who work on a variety of themes and regions. As of January 2012, the ASC has a new research programme entitled ‘African Dynamism amidst Global Restructuring’ that has four different fields of study and the PhD students’ research is reflected in these themes.
The African Studies Centre in itself does not offer PhD-programmes for prospective students. On rare occasions the African Studies Centre offers a vacancy for a PhD-student.
PhD-students (with a grant) looking for a supervisor can contact a member of our research staff.
For the ASC PhD's there is an online forum: www.ascphd.pbworks.com. With this online forum we would like to bring together all PhD's linked to the ASC, wherever they may be at any point in time. Please contact Michiel van den Bergh and Inge Butter for more information.
